The recent process of the passing of new Statutes of Autonomy possesses singular characteristics and notable features of interest for the scholar. For its political significance one such characteristic which stands out, and is common to all these Statutes, is the notable strengthening of collective identity. A cultural and historical identity which projects itself strongly upon, as a whole, the politics, institutions and authority in those Autonomous Regions where a new Statute of Autonomy has been passed.
