New Granadan education for peace

This article presents the experience of the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada in peacebuilding in Colombia through higher education, emphasizing its role as a transformative actor in a society affected by decades of internal armed conflict. It examines the institution’s mission, the international normative framework on education and human rights, and the main academic, research, and outreach strategies aimed at the comprehensive training of citizens committed to peaceful coexistence, democracy, and social justice. The paper also highlights key initiatives such as the 2024–2028 Institutional Development Plan, the Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and Peace Education, and the creation of specialized observatories, underscoring education as a fundamental tool for reconciliation, social cohesion, and sustainable development.
