New technologies in the activities of tourism administration

Tourism is one of the most characteristic activities in today’s society and becoming an important source of economic, social and cultural development for certain areas. Aware of this importance, the Spanish administration has taken great interest in tourism from as early as the beginnings of the 20th century adjusting its intervention to the evolution of the sector and the changing demands of the tourists. In recent years the tourist industry has undergone a profound transformation mainly due to the effects provoked by new technologies. The following pages are an intent to analyze these effects from the point of view of the authorities’ intervention.
