Abstract

Soft Law is not enough for increasing the number of female directors. Law 31/2014, of December 3, 2014, has fostered the presence of women on boards, but not of female senior managers and the gap continues at listed companies. In this paper we review the progress made on gender diversity in Spain and analyze the latest developments, with special attention to the Good Governance Code of Listed Companies (2020) and to the European and Spanish specific financial regulation that lead the way to move forward. A distinction is made between the approach of the corporate social responsability and from corporate governance to promote the presence of women at various company levels. We ended the study refering the quota regulations in several countries.
